Being humble….. Listening, as opposed to “waiting to speak”, and always being open to learning, despite your own perceptions of your apptitude to do the job.
These are all attributes of great leaders and individuals in my experience. In professional sports, the reality is that all those competing are at the top of their game. The difference between being the best of the best, is mindset and openness to learning without our own Ego’s getting in the way.
Greatness is a mental abstraction and a personal fantasy of the ego. The “great” in greatness arises out of the small things that are honored and cared for. In my experience all of our lives really consists of small things. Pick those small things wisely. In pursuit of your own greatness, open your mind to learn from those who have been there before and have something to teach.
The foundation of greatness is honoring the small things of the present moment, instead of pursing the future thing of greatness. Focus on the small things of the present moment rather than focus on future.
Align yourself with the present moment, then you will have access to the bigger power.
For me, it’s motorcycling. I’ve ridden on the street for 30 years, but 3 years ago quit the street to focus on learning to ride on the track. I thought i knew it all, but a few days learning how to ride well on the track reinforced that my Ego was clouding the truth. I applied my focus to the small things that were holding me back. Focusing on the small things is key…
Whats your focus?
